Irish Stadium: Co-Host of the 2013 State Amateur Baseball Tournament

Tournament Recap: The 2013 State Tournament official attendance was 14,161! This is the highest mark since 1998! The Lakers would like to thank the entire Maple Lake community for their tremendous support!

Congratulations to Daryl Hennen for receiving the 'Outstanding Citizen of Wright County' award from the Wright County Economic Development Partnership at their annual meeting. Daryl has been an instrumental part of the upgrades and renovations to Laker stadium, making it one of the best ballparks in the state of Minnesota. The Lakers want to thank Daryl for all his time and effort!

Nate Johnson Retires (maybe)

The Lakers are sad to announce one of the best Lakers, Nate Johnson, is hanging it up after 14 seasons with the Lakers. Nate was one of, if not the best, 2nd basemen in the NSL his entire career. He encompassed everything you want as a ballplayer and teammate: .300+ avg, gold glove caliber D, constant hustle,  and respect for the game.  Additionally, Nate brought a certain grit to the game. He was one of the toughest outs in the league his entire career.

His behind-the-scenes work and dedication to the Lakers team will be sorely missed. Nate kept the best team stats in the state, and commuted 45+ minutes for every Laker game the majority of his career.

Nate ended his 2010 season with a grand slam in his final at-bat. He came back for a 2011 state tournament run that ended with a broken leg, sidelining him for the last few games. However, in true Nate Johson fashion, he came back and won a 2012 state championship, earning a place on the all-tournament team as well! In his final season, he ended with a .331 average in 35 games - proving age means nothing!  Even more impressive, in his final three postseasons, Nate hit .364 in 26 games against some of the state's best teams. The praises could go on, but we'll wait until opening day to see if number 13 really calls it quits! The Lakers thank you for everything you have brought to the Maple Lake Laker baseball over the past 14 years!
